Infinity Ward, the developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, says they will increase their efforts to remove racist mentions and references from it’s game.
The statement reads; “There is no place for racist content in our game,” the statement began. “This is an effort we began with launch and we need to do a better job. We’re issuing thousands of daily bans of racist and hate-oriented names. But we know we have to do more — and we are.”
The statement goes on to explain that additional resources will be given to monitor and identify racist content quicker and more effectively by increasing the number of bans per hour. Additional restrictions will come in for name changes and to make it easier to report offenders while more permanent bans will be increased for repeat offenders.
This statement from Infinity Ward follows a statement on Monday from Activision Blizzard through the Call of Duty twitter account, which announced that the launch of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 will be delayed to later dates yet to be announced. “Right now it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard,” part of the statement read.
